CUBITTS - THE BOROUGH

The Grade II-listed Borough store was formerly a mission hall, a potato merchant, and a banana wholesaler, which inspired its vivid yellow exterior. Inside, shelving is based on ancient ziggurats, with a bold primary colour palette and an angular point of sale that reference the architecture of Modernist churches in an homage to the site’s religious past. At the back of the store a confessional window allows penitents to bring their broken frames for us to fix, and a donation box is on hand for kind souls to drop off their old frames, which Cubitts will polish up and recycle, donating to those in need.
